ABOUT THE ARTIST
Robin is from Southern California; she came to Maui in 1975 when she was nineteen with a boyfriend for vacation. She told him he had to go back without her. She rented a room for $100 a month behind the Banyan Tree Park on Luakini Street in Lahaina.
She made a living selling her macramé at the art gallery in Whalers Village. Her fondest memories were watching sunset on the wall next to the Pioneer Inn.
Her painting began in 2008, making wooden beach signs, inspired by Steve Neil, who lives on the Big Island. From there she moved on to using acrylic paints on canvas. Robin is a self-taught artist and has also found her inspiration from the ever-changing colors in our Hawaiian oceans, beautiful beaches, waterfalls, palm trees and flowers. She likes to say, “They are eternal in beauty and as long as she can paint the inspiration will always be there.”
